Park Hilaria in Eindhoven is the most accessible event for people with walking difficulties.

The Gouden Duim, the award for best score for physical disability access in 2018 was awarded to city funfair Park Hilaria. Stichting Platform Gehandicaptenbeleid Eindhoven introduced this award to encourage events to do more to accommodate people with a disability.

In 2018 a number of Eindhoven events were visited and assessed by PGE volunteers for accessibility, practicalness and safety for people with a physical disability. Provision of disabled car parking was assessed, as well as the suitability of the access route for wheelchair users. Legibility of the routing from a wheelchair at the venue was checked, as well as the presence of toilets and assistance for people with a disability. The event with the best scores on these points is awarded a Gouden Duim encouragement award. Park Hilaria was the best in 2018.

We are delighted with this recognition. We have worked hard for a number of years to make this event truly accessible to everyone. And that certainly includes disabled people. Nice to see it gets noticed and is valued.
